My Personal Experience with Menopause and Weight Gain.
During my journey through menopause, I noticed a significant shift in my body that I had never experienced before. The hormonal changes seemed to direct my weight gain towards my abdomen, rather than my hips and thighs, which was quite alarming. At first, I attributed this change solely to the hormonal fluctuations, but as I reflected deeper, I realized that there were multiple factors at play. Understanding the causes, I came to understand that this weight gain wasn't just a result of menopause. It was also tied to the natural process of aging, my lifestyle choices, and even some genetic predispositions that have been passed down through my family.

What truly motivated me to take action was the awareness of the potential health & wealth problems that could arise if I didn't address my weight gain or what I term as disgraceful ageing. I knew that excess abdominal weight can lead to serious health issues, such as:
Increased risk of heart disease
Higher likelihood of developing type 2 diabetes (I already had gestational diabetes during pregnancy)
Potential hypertension (I imagined brain aneurysm & dying alone)
Increased chances of certain cancers (the cervix or thyroid were showing early issues which I had to address)
These risks were really a wake-up call for me. I realized that if I wanted save my money to live life & travel, I have to maintain my health and well-being by making proactive changes. Ignoring these changes could have dire consequences, not just for my physical appearance but for my wallet and overall health.
Why do I keep emphasizing wallet?
It was due to the fact that we have only a limited pool of money (realistically). Now, if I can make some lifestyle changes to get healthier, spend less on medical expenses or fall sick less often, and have more money to live life and travel ... wouldn't that be better?
So with that thought, I embarked on a mission to take action and channel my energy into yet another career shift & a drastic lifestyle change. I started incorporating regular exercise into my routine and made more conscious decisions about my diet. It wasn't just about losing weight; it was about taking control of my health and preventing the potential issues that could arise from my current situation.
In conclusion, my experience with menopause has taught me the importance of being aware of my body and the changes it undergoes. By recognizing the factors contributing to my weight gain and understanding the health risks associated with it, I was able to take meaningful action towards a healthier future.
